Hola! I’ve picked up a couple of great bits of Spanish this week!
First of all I heard a woman in the street say this about her baby daughter:
Lleva toda la noche ‘dando por saco’ - she’s been ‘giving us hell’ all night long!
…. And this from a Spanish film on TV about the Alhambra Palace in Granada:
Aqui es donde el rey le encontro a su novia ‘de estranjis’ - This is where the king met his girlfriend ‘on the quiet/secretly’.
Both are current, don’t be afraid to use them - You WILL sound more Spanish! (Well, ‘dando por saco’ is ‘un poco fuerte’, a tiny bit rude!)
Saludos from Madrid,
Ben
P.S. If you like these phrases (and want to sound VERY good at Spanish), you know where to get over 100 more which are just as great:
